As life became more and more hectic after becoming a mother, I realized that in order to handle all the additional responsibilities and distractions motherhood entails, I needed to get organized and create a space that could easily be easily transformed from a playful disaster to a serene and beautiful space. A space where I could actually relax and unwind after a busy day without feeling overwhelmed by mess or clutter. A place where everything had its place and purpose while also being esthetically pleasing, inviting, fresh, serene and inspiring.
I knew it would take work up front but after I had a functional living plan in place I would be able to keep my mind calm even in the midst of all the exquisite madness.
Finding the balance between beauty and function is a tricky equation; but once you figure it out you will appreciate it everyday. Functional living not only allows you to enjoy the messy moments, baking with the kids or letting them “free” paint on your kitchen counter, but also allows you to revel in the brief moments you have to yourself, with your partner, friends and family.
It takes effort and planning to create this home harmony but it is within reach. You don’t always need a huge budget and a home that looks like it was ripped from the pages of Architectural Digest to create a functional fresh space.
I wanted to start Functional Fresh Living for my friends and all the women like me. The women that appreciate the beautiful spaces they see in design blogs and magazines, but have struggled bringing that same feeling to fruition in their own homes.
I knew I was on to something. I wanted women like me to feel refreshed and inspired when they walk into their kitchen or curl up in their bed for some much needed rest. I wanted to design amazing spaces that really work with your lifestyle and make life easier and more enjoyable.
I wanted women like me to realize we can make it happen on any budget.
